Intensive Behavioural Intervention in A Private Centre-Based Environment
In accordance with the Ministry of Child and Youth Services standards for appropriate therapy for children with ASD, the CCDC offers Intensive Behavioural Intervention to children with a diagnosis of PDD-NOS or Classic Autism. This form of therapy is currently the only research-based government-funded therapy offered to children with Autism in Ontario. We are an early intervention centre, serving children between the ages of two to nine years of age.
The CCDC allows parents to choose the direct funding option (through their regional program’s Direct Funding Coordinator) and opt to use their funding towards our private services. The benefits of choosing the CCDC as a private therapy provider is that we offer intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis in a variety of settings including one-on-one therapy in individual therapy rooms, small group therapy and school-based therapy in our integrated preschool program.
Ongoing Assessment and Program Revision
One of the key components to providing adequate individualized programming for your child is the use of ongoing assessment, both formal and informal, and ongoing program writing and revision to ensure your child is benefiting from their therapy in the best possible way. Our trained Senior Therapists will provide ongoing program assessments and skill assesmemts to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of your child’s programming. Yearly formal assessments will also be conducted by a supervising Child Psychologist.
On-Site Supervision
Senior Therapist employed by the CCDC will have offices on-site, so that Instructor Therapists or parents who require consultation on their child’s programming will have easy access to this service. The CCDC is a team-based facility – all professionals involved in your child’s case and parents will meet on a monthly basis to participate in team meetings designed to address questions, concerns or new developments in your child’s therapy. On-site supervision also allows for ongoing training of all staff members to ensure quality and consistency in your child’s programming.
On-Site Integrated Preschool Program
Currently, the integrated preschool program in our facility is under development. We anticipate its opening to occur within the first two years of our operation. This program will include data-collection, behaviour protocols, and individual education plans designed specifically for your child in an integrated school setting. This program is to act mainly as a transition support for clients entering the school system and as a means for clients to generalize skills learned in one-on-one therapy.
